Behind the scenes at gurgle

So I am approaching my daughter's second birthday and I am almost nine months pregnant. Some people might think I'm mad to throw her a party, but since she will  soon have to share her life, her parents and probably most of her toys with a screaming newborn, it's only fair that we celebrate in style! Like last year we're going to have a BBQ, although we did experience a heat wave back then and I'm all too aware that we had snow two weeks ago!

I haven't gone mad on presents this time as tit's the only year we have left where The Bean isn't able to tell us exactly what she wants! An Upsy Daisy doll from In The Night Garden will probably make her happy until August as will a sticker book that promises 100 stickers! We've also invited a sprinkling of our friends as well as The Bean's little toddler friends, because again, this is the last year we'll get away with turning our daughter's birthday into a boozy adult party!

I've got three weeks left at gurgle.com until my maternity leave starts. Don't worry I won't be gone for long... as much as I'm looking forward to being at home with The Bean full time, looking after a newborn baby and experiencing massive sleep deprivation again I will also miss working at gurgle. I'll still be dipping my toes in from time to time and reading our articles on sleeping through the night, getting a good nights sleep and bedtime routines. I'll probably also be picking the brains of gurgle's resident experts to help me through any baby queries i'll no doubt encounter.

I've been keeping my eye on other mums blogs recently, and I particularly like reading one at www.parentingissuesuk.co.uk. written by Rosie, mum to a four year old who lives in Nottinghamshire. Encouragingly for all parents, yesterday's entry has pictures of Rosie's house in utter chaos after she has looked after her child had a stomach bug all weekend! I'm glad to see that all parent's lives descend into chaos when their children get ill...Mine was a nightmare and I couldn't shift the 'sick' smell for about a week after The Bean and her cousin got tummy bugs! I also like Rosie's take on Aloha Friday, which means she takes it easy on Fridays and asks simple questions such as, 'What book are you reading at the moment?', instead of entering a full on blog entry. (We are all keen on Friday afternoon 'drinkies' in the gurgle office!) I also like her Wordless Wednesdays where she posts up a funny image usually based around parental escapism! If you like parenting blogs, you'll enjoy reading this one...

That's for the mention and your very kind words! Blogging is great fun, I'd recommend it to everyone, I've come across soome great sites and met some very interesting people. Quite a few people have emailed me to say how relieved there were to see someone displaying a messy how on their blog, proving that we are all normal! They have also said it's quite a brave thing to do, and I have to agree.
